Facilities Technician

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems, utilities, and production-related support equipment in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient facility operation that supports production needs and meets all applicable GMP, OSHA, and FDA regulatory standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, vacuum, and water purification systems.
• Support GMP manufacturing operations by ensuring critical systems are operating reliably and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Complete and document maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely manner with minimal disruption to production.
• Support the calibration, validation, and qualification of facility systems and utility equipment as required.
• Aid in planning and execution of facility upgrades, equipment installations, and layout changes.
• Maintain knowledge of cleanroom environments and support proper pressure cascades, filtration, and environmental monitoring systems.
• Participate in safety programs, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with company safety standards.
• Work with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, services, or construction projects.
• Maintain accurate records of spare parts inventory and recommend reorders or improvements as needed.
• Provide support during audits, inspections, or regulatory visits related to facilities or maintenance operations.

Education & Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Trade School Degree or Associates preferred.
• 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device environment required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Working knowledge of GMP regulations and cleanroom practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and SOPs.
• Experience with CMMS software and documentation practices in regulated environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• OSHA 10/30 certification.
• Experience with ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR Part 820 compliance.
• Flexibility to work off-hours or weekends for emergency maintenance or facility shutdowns.
