Facilities Technician
onsemi is seeking facilities technicians to join the facilities organization in Hopewell Junction, East Fishkill, NY. This role supports the continuous operation and maintenance of critical systems including air handlers, exhaust systems, environmental controls, JCW cooling systems, DI/UPW water systems, pumps, fans, motors, and other manufacturing-support equipment.
About the role
Technicians will ensure proper system operation, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and respond to alarms and controls. Primary responsibilities include system and equipment maintenance, with some involvement in control system programming and alarm response. Weekend coverage may be required, and strong communication skills are essential for working in a team-oriented environment focused on customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance activities and visual inspection tours, documenting performance metrics on 300mm semiconductor equipment.
- React to error messages on building and site systems/equipment, recovering from process and tool interruptions.
- Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and respond to Out of Spec conditions, including defect troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Operate and provide Reliability Centered Maintenance to a wide variety of environmental, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Recognize and respond to system and equipment malfunctions independently.
- Utilize computers to document and communicate system status, including shift logs for cross-shift collaboration.
- Apply LEAN tools to drive continuous improvement in system utilization and cost efficiency.
- Interact with engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing teams as a customer-focused team member.
- Work in noisy areas and safely handle chemicals and chemical-handling equipment.
- Perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Follow detailed instructions, read facility prints, and complete required documentation accurately.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail and timeliness in a fast-paced environment.
- Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements and programs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent technical certification in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose/resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to follow strict safety protocols when working with hazardous materials and equipment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, respond to emergencies outside regular hours, and participate in training/team-building exercises.
Schedule
Night 2 shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday. Overtime and emergency call-ins may be required.
Pay
Base salary range: $21.20 – $36.92 per hour (exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses). Final pay rate depends on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
