Facilities Specialist II (Parks)

About the role

The Facilities Specialist II is a highly skilled technician responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing facility equipment, mechanical systems, electrical systems and infrastructure across multiple Parks, Recreation, Arts, and Golf facilities. This role requires specialized technical knowledge, certifications, and/or licenses in electrical, mechanical, controls, and industrial refrigeration systems as well as the ability to manage third-party contractors.

Responsibilities

• Works in a team environment to manage daily building operations and ensure safe, efficient, and clean Parks, Recreation, Arts, and Golf facilities.
• Conducts regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and system issues.
• Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots building systems to maintain reliable facility performance.
• Manages vendor work, including coordination, oversight, and quality verification.
• Led preventative maintenance and facility improvement projects to enhance safety, efficiency, and usability.
• Installs, programs, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of control systems, including DDC Building Management, Lighting, Refrigeration Plant Controls, PLCs, Distributed Audio, Power Quality Monitoring, heavy equipment/Zamboni controls, and other facility systems.
• Installs, programs, and repairs electro-mechanical devices such as motors, starters, compressors, pumps, refrigeration and chemical controls, valves, transducers, meters, sensors, relays, lighting circuits, alarms, access control devices, and other facility-related components.
• Maintains integrity and functionality of plant and facility safety systems.
• Performs diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work across five (5) Parks, Recreation, Arts, and Golf facilities, ensuring alignment with organizational values and mission.
• Performs troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and modifications on a wide variety of machinery including air compressors, steam generators, regenerative blowers, ozone generators, scrubbers, vacuums, ice edgers, Zambonis, pressure washers, exercise equipment, HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, combustion burners, rotary compressors and blowers, gate operators, dampers/actuators, de-humidification equipment, man-lifts, tractors, trailers, hoists, lifts, etc.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures, water supply plumbing, hydronic heating systems, refrigeration plant glycol side loops, sanitary sewer systems, water softeners, boilers, pumps, zone valves, PVC plumbing systems, filtration systems, reverse osmosis systems, lift stations, check valves, flow valves, butterfly valves, ball valves, filters, etc.
• Performs general building maintenance tasks, including carpentry, seasonal duties, painting, tile installation, concrete work, and heavy equipment operation.
• Acts as a safety advocate, promoting a safe work environment for employees and the public.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in facility maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Must have a valid journeyman’s or master’s electrical license.
• Must have a low voltage electrical and controls work, ladder logic, controls programming, or board-level repair certification.
