Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) manages funds and construction projects, providing architectural and engineering services, space standards and planning, interior specifications, long-term development plans, strategic and long-term capital plans, project programming and development, facility assessment, capital improvement, code and development standards, and master planning.

Join a team of experienced, long-tenured professionals managing major capital construction projects, including greenfield developments and complex renovations, ranging from $30 million to more than $1 billion in total project value. This role leads key aspects of major capital projects while supporting Project Directors, with a clear opportunity to grow into a Senior Project Manager position.

About the role

The Facilities Project Manager plays a critical role in managing facility-related projects from initiation through completion, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards. This role leverages expertise in construction processes, stakeholder coordination, and project management disciplines to drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key project aspects of scope, budget, schedule, and project contract compliance.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Guide and manage the Project Team (customers, General Contractor/Construction Manager, Consultants, internal resources, and Facilities Management groups) through conflict management and effective communication.
  • Manage contractual compliance and relationships for assigned projects; define and implement contractual and financial strategies.
  • Coordinate approval procedures with the Board of Regents (BOR), Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Facilities Standards Committee (FSC), and associated State Agencies.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Services in preparing documentation for contract award.
  • Support the ROCIP (Risk and Owner-Controlled Insurance Program) on selected projects.
  • Develop and manage project documentation, recordkeeping, financial and activity status reports to support decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Ensure project documentation records are organized and stored properly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Architectural Engineering, or related field; or comparable military experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the project delivery process, with a concentration in contracting and construction administration.
  • Leadership experience over significant scopes of work or areas of administration.

Qualifications

  • Required: Three years of project management/construction management experience. May substitute a Bachelor's degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • Preferred: Five years of project management/construction management experience, including design and construction experience with major academic healthcare and/or research facilities.

Pay

Salary Range: $106,500 – $133,000 – $159,500

Schedule

Full-time, regular position with a hybrid onsite/remote work location. Standard work week: Days.

This position may require maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure and may involve routine reviews and screening as a condition of hire and continued employment.
