About the Role

Provide support to engineering projects for expansions and improvements across a wide variety of areas, including electrical control and automation system design and implementation, proposal preparation and reporting, project coordination, and system, software, and hardware evaluation and purchasing.

Responsibilities

  • Handle design and coordination of plant improvements and expansions projects, including equipment automation using PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), its design, implementation, system integration, testing, and on-site startup.
  • Design and develop HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs for automation systems using software applications such as Visual Basic, C++, HMI programming, and SQL database.
  • Prepare project proposals and coordinate with project team members to specify project objectives, scope, deliverables, and budget.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and purchasing process for automation software, hardware, and equipment, including creating and evaluating specifications, quotes, and purchasing documents.
  • Provide technical support to plants for all control systems and develop new systems for in-house machinery.
  • Manage technical projects and use Microsoft Project software.
  • Study and prepare Computer Aided Design (CAD) electrical drawings and schematics to develop computerized process control solutions.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in control systems.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience as an Automation Engineer or in a related occupation.
  • Project leadership experience to coordinate project teams (engineers, manufacturing personnel, and vendors) and oversee projects from initiation through completion.

Skills

  • Programming languages: Visual Basic, C++, HMI programming, and SQL database.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret design drawings, write technical reports, identify trends, and develop action plans.
  • Strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
