About the role

Airbus Americas is looking for a Facilities Project Manager to join our Real Estate and Facilities team in Mobile, Alabama. In this role, you will provide full-time project management support for all existing buildings and infrastructure systems regionally across Airbus Americas. You will manage facilities staff, vendors, and contractors, and provide administration, programming, design, construction, and technical support to ensure all construction projects are executed in accordance with established standards and procedures. You will contribute to property decisions alongside the Sr. Facilities Manager to develop objectives and outcomes for all facilities projects.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management (50%):
    • Provide full-time project management support region-wide, identifying requirements and communicating milestones and detailed deliverables.
    • Attend organizational meetings for input on construction, renovation, and other projects.
    • Serve as a representative of Facilities Management in the execution and administration of engineering, design, and construction projects.
    • Inspect, identify, and resolve design, detail, and logistics problems with Project Lead, architects, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and schedules.
    • Review change requests to construction design and prepare recommendations for Facilities Management review/approval.
    • Recommend and manage initiatives to improve service delivery considering both cost and quality.
    • Attend planning and project status meetings.
    • Conduct milestone jobsite inspections to ensure job specifications and proper building principles are followed.
  • Compliance and Budget (25%):
    • Develop and maintain the construction budget, project status reports, and monitor progression from start to finish.
    • Ensure operational compliance within assigned areas, including validation that systems meet relevant external authorities' requirements (e.g., OSHA, FDA, ADA, city and state fire marshal).
    • Support and manage portfolio-wide initiatives and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
    • Promote a safety culture across sites, including with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and support EHS program requirements.
  • Vendor Management (20%):
    • Assist with coordinating contractor access to the site for the duration of the project.
    • Address contractual and technical issues with the construction team to maintain a clear understanding of project scope.
    • Coordinate the procurement of goods and services to support project timelines.
  • Additional Responsibilities (5%):
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management, or a related field, or a High School diploma with 7+ years of project management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Project Management.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing a budget subject to external and internal demands and changes.
  • 5+ years of experience managing subcontractor activities in a production or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge and application of OSHA, ISO, NFPA, ANSI, and ADA standards.
  • General knowledge of FAA, EASA, and ICAO.
  • Approximately 25% domestic travel required.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Work Environment

The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama, assembles A220 and A320 Family aircraft across two (soon to be three) production lines. The facility, part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance global competitiveness, strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and meets growing customer needs in the U.S. and beyond.

You will work onsite 100% of the time in an environment that includes both office and production floor settings. Appropriate hearing and eye protection may be required when visiting the shop floor.

  • Vision: Daily ability to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily ability to hear conversations in person and via teleconference/phone, as well as production floor sounds, including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily ability to participate in conversations, meetings, and communications.
  • Equipment Operation: Daily ability to operate office equipment (e.g., computers, telephones, copiers) and some production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
  • Carrying: Daily ability to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Daily ability to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Daily ability to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
  • Sitting: Daily ability to sit for long periods during meetings or while working on a computer.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Daily ability to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Daily ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Walking: Daily ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
  • Travel: Rare ability to travel independently and at short notice.
