Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two to three years of experience in facilities maintenance, environmental services, property operations, or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties including bending, climbing, walking, and extended standing.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety Training preferred or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
- Ability to obtain additional certifications as required.
Essential Functions
- Building Maintenance & Operations
- Perform daily inspections and facility walkthroughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper building function.
- Complete work orders related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC support, painting, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules and mechanical system upkeep.
- Maintain fitness equipment and support routine inspections.
- Cook with vendors and contractors as directed.
- Document completed work within the Zoho Desk ticketing system.
- Cleaning & Environmental Services
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of program areas, restrooms, locker rooms, common spaces, hallways, stairwells, and residential common areas.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces and facility equipment.
- Conduct trash removal, recycling collection, and supply restocking.
- Respond to spills, leaks, floods, broken glass, and biohazard situations requiring immediate attention.
- Support event setup, breakdown, and post-event cleaning.
- Maintain YMCA standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility.
- Safety & Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to facility-related issues and maintenance emergencies.
- Assist during alarm activations, water leaks, heating failures, plumbing issues, and other facility incidents.
- Identify and report safety hazards and take corrective action when appropriate.
- Participate in safety trainings, drills, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the Superintendent and Building Engineer to support facility operations.
- Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and operational planning discussions.
- Demonstrate professionalism and member-focused service while working in public-facing areas.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Support special projects and additional responsibilities that contribute to the safety, functionality, and mission of the YMCA of Yonkers.
