Facilities Operations Technician
About the role
The Facilities Operations Technician supports building operations and maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC. This role involves monitoring the building management system, responding to incidents and alarms, conducting facility walks, performing maintenance, installing lab gases, and supporting space planning and furniture installations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to incidents and alarms in the building management system
- Conduct facility walks to identify and correct issues
- Perform maintenance and repair of facilities equipment
- Install lab gases and/or connections
- Support space planning and furniture installations
- Complete other tasks and duties as assigned with minimal supervision
Requirements
- Professional appearance and clear verbal/written communication skills
- Proficiency in one or more of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light carpentry, and patching/painting
- Experience in building equipment repairs and maintenance
- Knowledge of lab equipment and experience in laboratory environments
- Understanding of building controls, alarm monitoring, fire and life safety, security systems, and equipment
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 25 pounds
Skills
- Strong understanding of building controls and alarm monitoring
- Knowledgeable of lab equipment and experience in working in laboratory environments
- Proficient in using appropriate hand or power tools and equipment
- Effective collaboration with EHSS, Lab Operations, and Labs Services team members
- Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack
Qualifications
- High school graduate or secondary education/trade certification preferred
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certificate or associated Facilities coursework preferred
Benefits
This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $27 - $40 per hour. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
