Facilities Operations Technician
About the role
The Facilities Operations Technician position at Wolfspeed is part of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Team at the company’s largest silicon carbide materials factory in Durham, NC. This role involves operating and maintaining systems that ensure uninterrupted services and critical utilities to maintain life safety and production.
Responsibilities
- Maintain preventive maintenance and operate HVAC equipment, hydronic systems, chilled, heating, wastewater systems, compressed air, medium voltage electrical distribution, and other exhaust systems.
- Utilize control systems to monitor equipment, respond to alarms, and troubleshoot operational parameters.
- Start and stop equipment using control software and work with computers and software like Microsoft Office suite and SCADA.
- Support new equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and sustaining operations.
- Ensure facility operation through control software and work from verbal and written instructions, manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, piping and instrument diagrams, work orders, and specifications.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and work in non-climate-controlled environments, at heights, confined spaces, around machinery and moving parts, and in repetitive motions.
Requirements
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- A valid US driver's license.
- At least 5 years of related experience in an industrial setting, military experience, or a combination of experience with a technical degree.
- Experience using computerized building management systems/SCADA to maintain and troubleshoot facility equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and effectively resolve complex equipment malfunctions on plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, chillers, fire systems, and other types of facility equipment.
- Clear documentation skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists, including standing or walking over hard concrete surfaces, and climbing ladders.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work safely and use all personal protective equipment as required by OSHA/job requirements.
- Must be willing to participate in training as needed and assist with training less experienced personnel.

Schedule
Shift work is required, with 12-hour shifts and availability for both day and night shifts to provide 24x7 coverage for the production facility. Attendance during adverse weather conditions is also required.
