About the role

The Facilities Operations Technician position is part of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Team at Wolfspeed’s Durham, NC sites, which houses the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. This role involves operating and maintaining systems to ensure uninterrupted services and critical utilities, supporting life safety and production.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and operate HVAC, hydronic systems, chilled, heating, wastewater, compressed air, medium voltage electrical distribution, and exhaust systems.
  • Utilize control systems to monitor equipment, respond to alarms, and troubleshoot operational parameters.
  • Start and stop equipment using control software and work with computers and software like Microsoft Office and SCADA.
  • Support new equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and sustaining operations.
  • Ensure facility operation through control software and work from verbal and written instructions, manuals, wiring diagrams, and other documentation.
  • Work safely, use personal protective equipment, and follow safety policies.
  • Document clearly and assist less experienced personnel.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • A valid US driver's license.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in an industrial setting, military experience, or a combination of experience with a technical degree.
  • Experience with computerized building management systems (SCADA) to maintain and troubleshoot facility equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment malfunctions on various types of facility equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in non-climate-controlled environments, at heights, and in confined spaces, and perform repetitive motions.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work safely and comply with OSHA requirements.
  • Must have the lawful ability to access technical data under U.S. export control laws and regulations.

Skills

  • Computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and SCADA systems.
  • Technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
