About the role

The Facilities Manager, under general direction, assists the Director of Athletic Facilities in ensuring the safety, functionality, and sustainability of athletic buildings and property. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing maintenance staff and vendors, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations. The role involves administrative work for the Athletics Complex facilities, collaboration with coaching and administrative staff, and supervision of student workers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of set-up, operation, and break-down of the department's facilities for athletic and non-athletic events as per the events calendar.
  • Manages facility space utilization, including set-up and clean-up.
  • On-site availability during selected athletic events to assist with operations.
  • Conducts daily facility reviews of selected facilities.
  • Ensures timely, secure opening and closing of buildings within the Sports Complex Campus according to schedule and maintains building security at all times.
  • Coordinates maintenance of all athletic facilities in conjunction with campus Custodial and Grounds Services.
  • Manages lighting schedules for all athletic facilities.
  • Prepares and processes repair work order requests and reviews them for job completion.
  • Assists with asset inventory control, including locating, scanning, and tagging of equipment.
  • Monitors and assists in preparation and long-range planning activities.
  • Assists in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for providing service during events at athletic facilities.
  • Assists in planning, assigning, and supervising the work of others.
  • Enforces rules and regulations and stops all unsafe actions.
  • Represents the department on committees and at meetings across campuses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Three years of related supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to promptly respond to on-site emergency calls.
  • Ability to manage, plan, and organize overall building maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and during holiday breaks.

Qualifications

Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of related experience is equivalent to one college year. To meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, applicants must have four years of related experience plus the minimum required years of experience, totaling nine years of experience.
