Job Summary

The Facilities Manager oversees and coordinates the facilities team in maintaining the entire physical plant and grounds. The maintenance team evaluates problematic systems or facilities and determines necessary installation or repair services. Responsibilities include performing initial evaluations of building systems, distributing work assignments, and often requiring hands-on maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team, vendors, organize schedules, and task assignment.
  • Perform training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and maintain personnel records.
  • Supervise workers' performance to ensure quality operations.
  • Investigate accidents and prepare relevant reports.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Plan projects, develop bid specifications, oversee bid processes, and oversee construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain a 1, 3, and 5-year plan with the COO and CFO to continuously improve school facilities.
  • Provide product information research and quality assurance guidance.
  • Oversee assembly and arrangement of furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom/playground activities, meals, and events.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and operating facility.
  • Coordinate staff to accomplish repairs to building and equipment.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to larger equipment such as hoists and lifts to repair or replace defective equipment parts, reassemble equipment, inspect facilities, systems and their components, maintain tools and/or equipment, prepare and paint various surfaces, and repair various fixed assets, systems and/or components.
  • Maintain OSHA and fire code compliance.
  • Support Security and Technology needs in regards to repairs and alterations to buildings and/or grounds.
  • Collaborate with Operations team for Cafeteria and Food Service operations when necessary.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Qualifications

  • Background in construction, engineering, project management, and/or Facilities Management.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
  • Spanish speaker is a plus.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
