Facilities Manager

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Manager to join our team in the battery manufacturing industry.

About the role

As the facilities manager, you will ensure that factory facilities—including grounds, buildings, electrical/gas/water supply, heating, cooling, and janitorial services—are maintained to required levels of safety, uninterrupted operation, and cleanliness to meet regulatory, corporate, and local Saft management standards. This role requires a strong focus on safety, preventive maintenance strategies, team leadership, and vendor management. You will provide leadership to ensure SES observations and safety incident investigations are completed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement maintenance procedures, schedules, and protocols to ensure the proper functioning of all equipment and systems, including predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead facilities technicians by assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and monitoring performance.
• Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Oversee procurement for facilities-related activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to address facilities-related issues and support organizational goals.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
• Manage installation, repair, and upkeep of operations throughout the facility and act as the guardian of critical equipment.
• Direct all plant facilities functions involving buildings, systems, and grounds, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipe fitting, and welding.
• Assist in developing and implementing capital planning, plant equipment procurement, installation, design, and operations needs of the facility.
• Manage effective equipment, inventory, and work order history.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility to detect and resolve problems.
• Act as the Technical Contractor Manager by managing contractors and service providers regarding maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5–10 years' experience in industrial/electrical engineering.
• 5 years of supervisory experience desired.
• Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role, demonstrating the ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
• Familiarity with drafting software and understanding of blueprints and schematics.
• Proven experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination.
• Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and other PC-based operations and maintenance programs.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and employees.
• Must be able to work throughout the entire facility and grounds (including dry rooms).
• Awareness and ability to avoid electrical and mechanical hazards.
