About the role

The Manager performs, coordinates, and supervises assigned department's machinery and equipment repair and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises work crew including planning and scheduling all efforts to maintain all buildings, facilities, and grounds
  • Prepares time and attendance reports as necessary
  • Maintains inventory and maintenance records
  • Prepares detail cost estimates and tracks expenses for repairs, materials, and labor for projects
  • Inspects buildings for cleanliness and proper working order
  • Other related duties as required

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 2 years managerial field experience (required)
  • If incumbent's primary location is a hospital/clinical setting, Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) must be obtained within 12 months (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related field (preferred)
  • Vocational school training or licensure in HVAC, operating engineering, electrical and/or plumbing (preferred)
  • Upon hire, Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) if working in a hospital setting (preferred)

Skills

  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Knowledge of NFPA 99, 101, 72, 110 codes, the Joint Commission standards and all applicable local and state codes
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software systems and Microsoft office products
  • Skills to teach technical material in a formal setting
  • Self-directed with the ability to handle stress and job pressure in order to successfully complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to be courteous and considerate towards patients, families, co-workers and others and act as a team player

Physical demands

  • Medium work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
  • Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue
  • Incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid
  • No occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases
  • There may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste
