Responsibilities
- Performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, wall repair and painting work to maintain San Diego building.
- Repairs locking systems on doors, files, cabinets and lockers.
- Operates a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Schedules preventative maintenance services.
- Oversees building maintenance contract and service work; process and contract out repair requests.
- Inspects facilities, buildings and grounds for routine maintenance; prioritize repairs and renovations, move office furniture as needed; ensures facilities and buildings are in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal guidelines and safety regulations.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and plans.
- Works independently, communicates effectively with employees and staff, and follows written and verbal instructions.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Participates in the preparation of the building maintenance budget; monitor budget expenditures.
- Requisitions building maintenance supplies, material and equipment; monitor inventory; load and unload supplies.
- Loads and delivers tables and chairs to special events.
- Run errands as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in the building trades or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible general facilities maintenance experience.
- Possession of a California Class C Driver's License.
