About the Role

Landscapes and maintains campus grounds, including mowing, snow removal, and operating and maintaining power equipment and trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain power equipment and trucks.
  • Perform mowing, snow removal, and other grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required, including during non-routine working hours.
  • Arrange transportation to and from assigned work areas.
  • Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and lift.
  • Safely operate and maintain power equipment.
  • Meet at least one of the following minimum requirements:
    • Three years of full-time work experience in the building and trades industry.
    • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Maintenance Repairer.
  • Obtain a valid Driver’s License within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority.

Additional Requirements for Department of Transportation Positions

  • Possess a valid Commercial Learner’s Permit upon hire.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (level determined by the appointing authority) with required endorsements and applicable restrictions within a specified timeframe.
  • If a CDL is not designated, maintain at least a valid Class C Non-Commercial Operator’s License.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in the employer’s random drug and alcohol testing program, subject to federal regulations.
  • Pass a post-offer pre-employment physical verifying the ability to perform the duties described.
