Facilities/HVAC Maintenance Technician

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Perform a diversified list of duties including installation, repairs, preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvements on all equipment and systems.
  • Relate to electrical, HVAC, and mechanical principles to troubleshoot malfunctions to equipment and systems and to repair and restore operation.
  • Work overtime and fill-in for shift openings as needed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated high energy level, strong work ethic, and positive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent attendance and disciplinary records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of HVAC systems and concepts including chillers, heat pumps, window units and control cabinet units.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic processes and principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of plumbing.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of generators, air compressors and dryers.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical repairs including the use of electrical test equipment.
  • The ability to drive a forklift or the ability to learn to drive a forklift in a specified length of time.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • The ability to read, comprehend and react to complex data.
  • The ability to use power tools, measuring devices, and other hand tools.
  • The ability to work effectively with other members of the facility team.
  • The ability to work with others in identifying and solving complex manufacturing problems.
  • The ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • The ability to visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustments, or lubrication.

Qualifications

Universal refrigerant certification or other HVAC related certifications
Associate's degree in industrial maintenance, HVAC, or related field OR equivalent experience

Skills

Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical principles
Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions to equipment and systems
Ability to repair and restore operation
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Ability to visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustments, or lubrication
