Facilities Engineer II-Full Time Evenings

Job Description

The Facilities Engineer II operates and maintains building mechanical systems and equipment, including power plant equipment such as high pressure boilers, chillers, and medical air compressors. The primary responsibilities include operating and assisting in maintaining and repairing equipment, monitoring engineering systems, performing safety checks, and responding to plant emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operates and assists in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minor supervision.
• Maintains and repairs other engineering systems and takes emergency actions as necessary.
• Operates high pressure boilers and related equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating system, water heating system, generators, electrical switchgear, and energy management system.
• Performs safety checks on plant equipment.
• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Cleans and paints equipment, piping, and associated accessories in power plant and mechanical rooms.
• Chemically analyzes boiler, chiller, cooling tower, and all closed loop systems, and performs chemical analysis tests.
• Changes and disposes of chemical drums properly and uses proper safety equipment while working with chemicals.
• Understands the importance of chemical balance in all systems.
• Responds to plant emergencies and knows location of firefighting equipment.
• Responds to service requests and performs problem assessment, troubleshooting, correction, and documentation.
• Performs scheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with organizational and regulatory protocols, policies, and standards.
• Operates facility equipment and systems on a routine and as needed basis in a safe and efficient manner.
• May assist contractors/vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years relevant building maintenance experience
• Technical training in maintenance field; HVAC/R trade school certification or equivalent
• Licensed as a Stationary Engineer OR the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
• Valid driver’s license (must provide Driving Abstract)

Preferred

• Hospital or military experience
• One year training in Boiler Maintenance
• Current universal refrigerant certification
