Facilities Engineer – Civil / Structural Engineer

About the role

The Electric Boat shipyard is experiencing significant growth at its facilities, including renovations and new build projects. This role is within the Groton Facilities Engineering department, which includes Engineers, Project Managers, and Designers. We are looking for a seasoned civil and structural engineer to support the engineering and project management of critical infrastructure and projects at the 110-year-old Groton shipyard and local sites.

Responsibilities

• Engineering and developing the scope of work
• Preparing bid documents
• Selecting vendors and securing internal funding
• Preparing purchase requisitions
• Managing project quality, schedule, budget, and contract requirements
• Overseeing day-to-day construction activities
• Oversight of multiple simultaneous projects
• Developing ROM estimates and business cases for funding
• Reporting project status to management and senior leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil, Structural, or Marine Engineering
• 5+ years of post-graduate experience in engineering or construction project management
• Preferred 3+ years of experience in a leadership position
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in Connecticut
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Experience with CMMS software such as Corrigo, Oracle, and Procure
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Word)
