Facilities Engineer
About the role
The Facilities Engineer supports building and plant operations within laboratory, manufacturing, and utility environments. Key responsibilities include overseeing maintenance, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, coordinate, and oversee external service providers performing Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities under facility, system, or equipment contracts.
- Ensure all CM and PM tasks are completed, documented, and compliant with internal policies, procedures, and GMP requirements.
- Perform routine inspections of facility utilities, equipment, and systems to identify early signs of wear, leaks, or abnormalities.
- Support verification, updates, and maintenance of P&IDs, HVAC documentation, electrical one-lines, and process flow diagrams.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, PM activities, repairs, and system performance in accordance with SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and other departments to address facility needs and support operational continuity.
- Maintain regular communication with the Manufacturing team to ensure facility-related issues are addressed promptly.
- Provide detailed shift turnover reports to ensure seamless communication between teams.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and operate with minimal oversight.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2–6 years of Facilities Engineering experience, or experience as a General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Subcontractor.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of safety protocols, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures; familiarity with regulatory requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with facility systems, utilities, and process equipment.
- CAPEX project exposure preferred.
- GMP cleanroom experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of building systems, utilities, and equipment operations.
Skills
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
