Facilities Construction Manager
About the role
We are currently looking for a Facilities Construction Manager. This person will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects for buildings and infrastructure. Duties include interface with client and construction contractors, oversight of prime contractors performance of the work, initiate, receive and track contract correspondence, coordinate resolution of RFI's, provide analysis of contract modifications, monitor safety, quality assurance and all other matters necessary for the timely and proper execution of the work. Individual must have solid knowledge and experience with all aspects of commercial-scope construction, be familiar with all construction divisions of work. This person will primarily work on projects in Fairfax County and Loudoun County or the surrounding area.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction buildouts from initial planning to project closeout, managing schedules, coordinating contractors, supervising field activities, and ensuring quality standards.
- Act as the primary on-site lead for construction and special projects, providing regular progress updates to leadership and management.
- Supervise daily site operations, including contractor oversight, scheduling, quality assurance, adherence to project plans, and compliance with safety standards.
- Analyze and interpret project plans, contract language, and specifications to ensure project constructability.
- Reviews project documentation and records for compliance with Department requirements and directs changes/corrections when needed.
- Experience in cost estimating from program through construction phases preferred.
- Strong knowledge of project CPM scheduling and other project controls applications preferred.
- Team player and versatility. Must be personable and capable of direct client interaction.
- Make recommendations for partial and final contractor payments.
Requirements
- 5+ Years of Experience
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- OSHA 30
Qualifications
- The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.
- This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis.
- The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
