About the role

The Facilities Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring that Green Dot’s schools in Los Angeles are safe, clean, and functioning optimally. This position involves providing facility and maintenance-related services, responding to requests, and ensuring compliance with local and state codes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide facility- and maintenance-related services for all Green Dot schools as assigned
  • Respond to facilities requests in a timely manner using the maintenance work order system; work orders are accurately inputted, scheduled, closed and tracked with superb communication to requestor
  • Proactively identify facilities maintenance needs
  • Ensure custodial staff is maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Able to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays (as needed) in order to serve Green Dot Los Angeles schools
  • Able to respond to any facility-related emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with faculty and staff, without direct supervision on some assigned projects
  • Able to assume additional tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or the Director of Facilities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); trade certification/licensing is a plus
  • Skills and knowledge to perform facility maintenance activities and light repair, including (but not limited to) those for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, furniture repair, lock repair, drywall, painting/plastering, carpet, and roofs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Basic computer skills
  • At least 3 years of experience in the area of facility maintenance, including the routine use of power tools
  • Able to bend, squat, kneel, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb and balance upon ladders 6.0 feet tall, or less
  • Can handle a variety of tasks at one time
  • Can complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely and effective manner
  • Can exercise discretion in the dissemination of information
  • Have access to a personal vehicle in good working order, a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record, as well as proof of auto insurance is required
  • Dependable, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
  • Will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

Job Requirements

  • Work Hours: Consistent attendance during scheduled hours, as flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements
  • Physical Requirements: Certain physical abilities, such as interacting with prospective families, traveling across Los Angeles County, walking or standing for long periods or moving through various parts of the school
  • Social Requirements: Extensive interaction with students, colleagues, and members of the public
  • On-Site Presence: Regular, in-person attendance to meet the needs of students, staff, and the school environment

Compensation

The starting hourly rate range for this position is $23.19 - $25.05 based on education. In addition, Green Dot offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
