Facilities Assistant

The University of Saint Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan university in the liberal arts tradition located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, seeks a Facilities Assistant to support campus operations and advance its mission.

About the role

The Facilities Assistant reports to the Director of Physical Plant and plays a key role in maintaining campus facilities, supporting events, and upholding the university’s Catholic identity, Franciscan charism, and liberal arts tradition. This position contributes to implementing the university’s new mission statement and strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Assist with facilities maintenance, equipment and supply transportation, and campus grounds support.
• Set up and tear down furniture for events according to plans and timelines.
• Maintain campus cleanliness, including trash removal and general maintenance tasks.
• Lift up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting, as an essential function of the role.
• Work independently or collaboratively as needed to meet operational demands.
• Support the university’s mission by integrating Catholic and Franciscan values into daily work.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds, including overhead lifting.
• Experience with event setup, furniture arrangement, and adherence to event timelines.
