About the role
Therma is seeking an experienced Fabrication Sourcing & Purchasing Specialist to support our fabrication, construction, and operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, issue, and manage RFQs for fabrication and project-related materials.
- Identify, qualify, and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery expectations, and commercial terms.
- Issue, track, and manage purchase orders to support fabrication and project schedules.
- Capture material releases, deliveries, and shipment tracking to maintain production flow.
- Partner with project teams, fabrication/shop personnel, BIM, estimating, accounting, and operations to support material planning and execution.
- Review construction drawings, scopes, and project needs to assist with estimating and procurement coordination.
- Track material costs, schedules, quantities, pricing accuracy, and cost allocation.
- Support invoice reconciliation and coordination with Accounts Payable.
- Resolve material, vendor, delivery, design, and fabrication-related issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain lead times, supply constraints, cost trends, and vendor performance.
- Support cost savings initiatives, competitive sourcing efforts, and vendor performance improvements.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing documentation, reports, meeting notes, and project records.
- Support multiple projects through design, fabrication, purchasing, delivery, and shipment phases.
- Prioritize urgent needs and coordinate resources to meet delivery commitments.
Qualifications
- 1+ years (3+ years preferred) of relevant experience in sourcing, purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or material coordination.
- Experience in the mechanical construction, MEP, fabrication, manufacturing, HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, or construction-related industry strongly preferred.
- A strong understanding of purchase orders, RFQs, vendor management, lead times, pricing, and material delivery coordination.
- The ability to read and understand construction drawings, scopes, BOMs, specifications, or project documentation.
- Experience supporting fabrication, construction operations, or production-driven environments.
- Strong negotiation, follow-up, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, vendors, and project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with shop teams, project managers, estimators, accounting, and operations.
- A high attention to detail with strong follow-through on pricing, quantities, delivery dates, and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP, purchasing, construction management, or accounting systems preferred.
