Assists the Operations Manager and Fabrication Manager with daily welding and assembly tasks. Prepares equipment, cleans work areas, holds materials during welding, operates hand tools, and supports welders to ensure accurate, efficient, and safe operations.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts
- Help weld small and large components, such as steel
- Use specialized machinery for welding and oversee machines that perform the same job
- Help maintain and repair all machinery
- Help assess welded surfaces and components to identify errors
- Help ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Assist in the stocktaking of welding supplies
- Collaborate with the welder and the manufacturing team to ensure timelines are met
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
- Proven experience as a welder or fabrication helper
- Experience using electrical or manual tools
- Attention to detail
- Forklift Certification preferred
- Professional Welding Certificate preferred
- Strong organizational and mathematical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledgeable in TFI/OSHA Safety Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environments
- Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to climb ladders for 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for 6+ hours per shift
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shift
- Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shift
- Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken words, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
