About the role

The Welding Supervisor at WB Industries is responsible for leading a team in a fabrication environment, ensuring quality, safety, and production alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in structural fabrication, guiding them through complex work.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment, fixture, and weld quality issues quickly and accurately.
  • Support procedure qualification, welder performance testing, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively, handle discipline and conflict fairly, and set clear expectations.
  • Organize daily work, stage materials, and manage project timelines, including changes.
  • Collaborate with machining, paint, design, and production teams to ensure smooth project flow.
  • Identify and address problems, and prevent their recurrence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a fabrication environment, focusing on practical skills rather than just technical knowledge.
  • Strong expertise in MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core welding.
  • A solid background in structural fabrication, including the ability to read complex prints, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Understanding of metal behavior, distortion control, and the impact of fabrication choices on downstream work.
  • Firm understanding of weld quality standards, inspection practices, and defect prevention.
  • Experience supporting procedure qualification, welder performance testing, and required documentation.
  • Active reinforcement of OSHA-compliant practices and setting a safety-first culture.
  • Ability to coach welders at different skill levels and maintain productivity without micromanagement.
  • Practical problem-solving skills, balancing quality, speed, and safety without compromising on any aspect.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in structural fabrication.
  • Technical proficiency in MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core welding.
  • Strong understanding of weld quality standards and defect prevention.
  • Experience in procedure qualification, welder performance testing, and documentation.
  • OSHA compliance and safety leadership experience.
