FAA Electronics Engineering Technician (2nd shift)

About the role

Work is guided by diverse procedures, processes, and/or technical methods of varying complexity. Incumbents have some freedom to select the best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are complex in nature, requiring considerable judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions and actions may have an impact beyond the immediate work unit or team. Works under general supervision; situations not covered by standard processes or procedures are referred to expert resources.

May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work and demonstrate work methods to new employees. Interacts primarily with immediate supervisor, co-workers, and team members, exchanging factual information and providing explanations in a problem-solving capacity.

Responsibilities

• Repetitive to non-repetitive assembly, testing, disassembly, analysis, repair, rework, reassembly, and test of aircraft components in support of an FAA Repair Station.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and rework aircraft components in accordance with established procedures and provide recommendations to return components to service per FAA and other regulations.
• Perform manual assembly and disassembly, operate automated assembly equipment, hand soldering, operate automated test equipment, and inspect and repair products.
• Perform machine and line setups, feeder repairs, and first-line preventative maintenance.
• Set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain assembly and hand soldering equipment and tools.
• Recognize and address problems in the assembly process or with assembly components.
• Communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external customers and lead teams to high-quality production within tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of board assembly process and product process flow.
• In-depth knowledge of product quality, soldering specifications, and SMT processing systems.
• Knowledge of in-circuit and functional test fixturing.
• Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, documentation control systems) and ability to perform tasks accurately in these applications.
• Advanced manufacturing systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• Four to five years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a commitment to further education. Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Physical Demands

• Duties are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, and temperature extremes.
• Requires periodic light physical effort and exertion, including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination, sitting or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
• May require periodic heavy manual effort, including lifting objects.
• Requires extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
• All demands are carried out within local existing Health and Safety guidelines.
