F&B Manager
About the role
The F&B Manager oversees the planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the AGM/GM with overseeing the outlet to ensure a smooth execution of service
- Develop staff training programs to ensure knowledgeable service throughout the outlet
- Aid in the development of departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and strategies
- Train and supervise Food & Beverage employees; provide feedback based on observation
- Demonstrate a working understanding of labor cost control through effective scheduling and proactive management
- Analyze operational problems, such as theft and wastage, and assist the F&B Managers in establishing procedures to alleviate these problems
- Hold staff accountable throughout their shifts for job performance through consistent supervision and follow-ups as needed
- Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns and apply corrective measures when necessary
- Ensure all employees adhere to dress code policies for their scheduled shifts
- Aid in establishing cost improvement objectives and implementing action plans
- Follow inventory standards and procedures and consistently conduct an accurate inventory
- Ensure staff has a complete understanding of their job requirements and sufficient training before holding them accountable for results
- Ensure that all staff is delivering the level of service in accordance with New Waterloo Standard Operating Procedures
- Create opportunities for ongoing education and development of team members
- Promote and encourage guest name recognition at all times with both internal and external guests
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of safety in the work area
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition; arrange for equipment purchases and repairs as needed
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, all departments, and upper management at all times via email, online applications, meetings, etc., to ensure the outlet needs are met
Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience in the hospitality industry preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers
- Navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Leadership skills
- Belief in developing team and creating a holistic sense of mission
- Solutions-oriented mindset and confidence to make fast-paced decisions
- Excellent time management and ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment
- Strong work ethic and ability to work both autonomously and with a team
