About the role

The Extrusion Operator position is located at Avery Dennison’s Engineered Films Plants, which includes facilities in Concord Building 18 and Painesville Building 3E. Candidates must be open to working in either location based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all processing and material handling equipment within the film extrusion process.
  • Follow process procedures or instructions from line operators and team leaders.
  • Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Surface any malfunctions or abnormalities of equipment.
  • Perform routine tests and check product for multiple characteristics using standard measuring devices, including calibrated measuring tapes.
  • Adjust set up and process operations accordingly.
  • Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste or rework in the process.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience required.
  • Possess or acquire any necessary licenses within specified timing.
  • Adaptive, flexible, and able to handle ambiguity.
  • Regard safety as a core value; must serve as a role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively contribute in a team-based environment, encourage open communication, and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach common goals.
  • Strong service and quality focus. Address issues effectively when problems arise, and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate/educate team in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge. Must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.
  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.
  • Strong detail orientation and be able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
