Night Shift Extrusion Operator

About the role
The Operator ensures safety while overseeing and maintaining extrusion lines. They check quality standards, troubleshoot equipment, adjust machines, and maintain a clean and organized work environment to keep extruders at optimal performance. This role collaborates with supervisors and teammates to maintain production of quality material and may assist with training new or potential operators, product inspectors, and other duties as requested by management.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols
- Keep equipment and work areas clean and organized
- Set up, clean, and maintain tools (dies, calibrators, tanks, templates, etc.)
- Troubleshoot extrusion-related issues
- Maintain materials for each extrusion line
- Ensure scrap and efficiency meet company standards
- Check and maintain quality
- Assist Product Inspectors with job duties when able
- Complete checklists and other required paperwork
- Perform basic preventive maintenance
- Perform other tasks as requested by leadership
- Communicate professionally with co-workers and keep Supervisor aware of any safety concerns
- Abide by and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Participate in trainings and comply with safety regulations
Requirements
- 1 year of experience with demonstrated mechanical knowledge
- On-site QA certification
- Experience working in a manufacturing/distribution organization
- Ability to work individually as well as with a team
- Willingness to learn new tasks and take initiative
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive motion of the limbs
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- Comfortable working in an excessively noisy environment
- Ability to work in inclement weather, excessive heat, or excessive cold
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk the plant floor in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses or ear protectors at all times
