Extrusion Manager (multi-lumen tubing + line set up exp. req.)

About the role
Our client in precision manufacturing is looking for an Extrusion Process Development Lead to join their team in Central Connecticut. In this hands-on technical leadership/buildout role, you will lead the development of a new extrusion capability, combining hands-on process development, setting up and running equipment, producing samples, and troubleshooting extrusion lines while establishing the foundation for a future extrusion team. This role offers ownership of an expanding manufacturing capability and the opportunity to shape its processes, resources, and future team.
This role will initially work in a player-coach capacity, so you must be comfortable working directly on the production floor while balancing technical projects, customer needs, and long-term operational planning.
Responsibilities
- Commission and support precision plastic extrusion equipment
- Develop multi-lumen tubing processes for samples and production
- Set operating parameters and improve process repeatability
- Complete line setups, changeovers, and equipment troubleshooting
- Specify dies, mandrels, and related extrusion tooling
- Run sample batches and adjust processes to meet tolerances
- Manage technical projects from development through production
- Coordinate project timelines, risks, costs, and status updates
- Provide technical input for quotes and manufacturing estimates
- Evaluate materials, tooling, equipment, and outside resources
- Maintain procedures and documentation within the quality system
- Improve extrusion efficiency, reliability, and product consistency
- Train additional team members as production demand increases
Requirements
- 4+ years of plastic or polymer extrusion operations experience required
- Multi-lumen tubing process development and production experience required
- Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting extrusion lines required
- Experience developing new extrusion processes and applications required
- Experience with extrusion dies, mandrels, and tooling changes required
Pay
$100,000 - $150,000 + Annual Bonus Potential
