JOB POSTING DETAILS Job Title EXTENDED DAYS MENTOR Job Type Part Time Position Level Job Description: Island Pacific Academy is looking for an Extended Days Mentor to help assist with the Extended Day Program. Extended Days Mentor will assist the Auxiliary Programs Manager and Director with the implementation of a quality Extended Day program that enriches the students socially, emotionally, and physically. Mentors will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade by successfully implementing the daily program activities. Duties & Responsibilities Plan, lead and supervise students in afternoon activities such as arts and crafts or quiet gamesProvide opportunities for students to quietly work on homeworkSupervise outdoor playSupervises all indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times Maintain a safe and healthy educational and play environmentMaintains a professional and positive attitudeGreets parents and ensures appropriate child sign-in procedures are completedSign children out when dismissed to classroomTreats all children with dignity and respectHelps to maintain a clean and organized classroomActs as representative of Island Pacific Academy and demonstrates the core values of the school Applicant Requirements Experience working with elementary school aged childrenMust be at least 18 years of age Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of school aged childrenAbility to follow written and oral directionsPossess the ability to communicate verbally and in writingSelf starter and ability to perform the job with little supervision.Students in a higher education coursework related to education preferredMust have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive, and be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the School’s program and philosophy. Must pass a background check Physical Requirements Of The Job Work environment includes standing, sitting and moving around regularly in both an indoor air conditioned and outdoor, hot and humid environment Regular lifting up to 15lbs The noise level of the position can occasionally be moderate or high during school events or outdoor activities.
