About the Role
To coordinate the Community Education Programs to ensure proper instruction and activities for students. The goal is to provide an enriching, exciting, and fun after-school experience for children enrolled in Chelmsford Community Education Programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during activities.
Reports to: Childcare Supervisor and Director of Community Education.
Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory training meeting before Extended Day starts (date to be determined) and complete all CPS mandatory training.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of records on students, including sign-in and sign-out.
- Assist the Supervisor in implementing the daily provided program plan.
- Plan activities for students to enhance their experience in the program.
- Implement and create activities for small groups.
- Meet students' individualized needs by adapting behavior management expectations and plans.
- Under the direction of the Supervisor, implement plans and activities to help children with behavioral or physical challenges.
- Confer with teachers, team leaders, and other appropriate personnel regarding students.
- Supervise and interact with students.
- Communicate with parents, sharing positive highlights as well as any concerns regarding their child.
- Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
- Ability to work on the floor, lift over 50 lbs, and meet other physical requirements as needed.
- Oversee and mentor all Jr. Counselor staff.
- Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth.
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling with shifts available before school and after school.
- Additional hours may be required on days when Chelmsford Public Schools has a half-day.
- Required to work one shift during February or April vacation weeks.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Site Supervisor and discussed with the incumbent. A copy will be filed with the Director of Community Education.
