Extended Day Supervisor - Ascension School - Vicariate IV

About the role

The Archdiocese of Chicago seeks an Extended Day Supervisor to oversee the care of students in its schools. The role involves supervision of staff, planning activities, and communication with parents.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and ensure they have access to and complete timecards
• Create and implement a daily plan for children, including snacks, homework, outdoor play, and indoor activities
• Plan seasonal activities and ensure a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment
• Manage student schedules, take daily attendance, and assist with homework
• Organize, facilitate, and monitor activities, and interact with students to keep them engaged
• Absorb and resolve student disputes; refer serious issues to the principal
• Prepare and distribute a monthly newsletter to parents
• Communicate schedule and calendar information to parents and staff
• Report any injuries or behavior issues to the principal
• Report any injuries or performance issues to the principal

Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• Experience working with and monitoring school-aged children in an organized work setting
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to supervise other caregivers
• Completion of Virtus training and maintaining online training
• First aid, CPR, asthma, and concussion certifications
• Pass background checks and drug tests
• Strong working knowledge of childhood development
• Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks such as sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting children
• Creativity and willingness to engage with children in various activities

Qualifications

• Completed high school or equivalent
• Some college coursework or vocational training preferred
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of Catholic teachings and values

Pay

This position has an hourly range of $16.00 - $18.60. Salary will be determined based on relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.

Schedule

The Extended Day program operates from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., serving students before and after school.
