Extended Care Director

About the role

Saint Rose Catholic School is seeking an individual to lead and direct its Extended Care program. The ideal candidate will train, manage, and supervise Extended Care staff, ensure the safety and care of students (Preschool through 8th grade), and maintain strong communication with parents.

Program Management

• Oversees daily operations of before-school and after-school care programs.

Staff Supervision

• Works with the principal to interview and hire staff.
• Trains, schedules, and evaluates extended care teachers, aides, and substitutes.

Student Safety & Enrichment

• Maintains a secure environment and enforces school rules.
• Coordinates recreational activities such as crafts.

Administrative Duties

• Tracks daily attendance and ensures the location of all students is known.
• Manages program supplies and snacks.
• Coordinates billing or records with the main school office.
• Ensures Saint Rose of Lima's Extended Care program meets State Certification requirements.

Parent Communication

• Views parents as primary educators and partners in student care.
• Communicates with parents regarding behavior, student needs, and concerns.

Security

• Ensures security measures are in place for weather, fire, threats, or other emergencies.
• Releases students only to authorized parents or designated pick-up contacts.

Summer Camps

• Oversees programming and staffing of Camp Saint Rose.
• Coordinates registration and works with camp staff.
• Acts as secretary during camp sessions.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma required.
• Experience: Four (4) years working with children in educational or child care settings.
• Faith Witness: Basic understanding of the Catholic Faith and ability to provide a personal and professional witness consistent with Church teaching.
• Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications, ability to pass a Tennessee TBI Fingerprinting background check, and completion of Diocesan Safe Environment Training and Background Check.

Schedule

• Position Type: Part-Time (up to 28 hours)
• Before Care: 7:00–7:30 AM, Monday–Friday when school is in session
• After Care: 2:00–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday when school is in session
• Half-Day Extended Care: Approximately 4 times per year, 1:00–6:00 PM
• Summer Camps: 3 weeks during summer, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, with administrative duties
