About the Role

Join the MercyOne family as a Registered Nurse (RN) at our Clinton location on day and night shifts. You will serve as a clinician, team member, and professional, practicing under the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. The RN is accountable for delivering evidence-based, safe, efficient, and family-centered care to achieve the mission of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and the vision of Patient Care Services.

Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act, retaining accountability for your own nursing practice. You will plan, assess, intervene, coordinate, and provide direct patient care using critical thinking skills, communicate with physicians and ancillary caregivers about patient plans, and fulfill holistic nursing care based on MercyOne Clinton’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
  • Plan, assess, intervene, and coordinate direct patient care utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Communicate with physicians, ancillary caregivers, patients, and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
  • Provide holistic (body, mind, and spirit) nursing care aligned with MercyOne Clinton’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • Active registration as a Registered Nurse with the Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
  • ACLS certification within one year of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience as an RN preferred.
  • Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Capability in problem-solving, critical thinking, and patient assessment.
  • Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
