Experienced Medical Scheduler

About the role
Lee Health is seeking experienced medical scheduling professionals to join our Outpatient Scheduling (OPS) team. This role is often the first point of contact for patients, providers, and other departments, requiring excellent verbal and customer service skills. The Outpatient Scheduling Specialist facilitates access to care through registration, scheduling, and recording patient communications for 300+ providers and 1,500+ procedure/appointment types. Responsibilities include handling inbound calls, making outbound calls to schedule procedures, and managing a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy, organization, and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, providers, and departments, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Schedule medical appointments and procedures using the practice management system.
- Handle inbound calls from patients, providers, and other departments, addressing inquiries and requests.
- Utilize work queues to make outbound calls to patients to schedule outpatient procedures per physician orders.
- Record and manage patient communications accurately.
- Navigate healthcare scheduling workflows efficiently to ensure timely access to care.
- Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and flexibility.
- Demonstrate expert understanding of modalities, tests, and diagnosis-related scheduling procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience (required).
- Medical terminology knowledge (desired).
- Strong telephone etiquette and listening skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- Bilingual skills (preferred).
Pay
External candidates start at $20.50 per hour. The full pay range for this position is $20.50–$24.09 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time, Shift 1: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
