Experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney

About the role

The Global Insurance Department at Cozen O’Connor is seeking an attorney with 5–8 years of significant insurance coverage and litigation experience to join their Chicago office.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and litigate complex coverage disputes and bad faith
• Work on a broad range of insurance coverage matters
• Understand contractual indemnity provisions and competing insurance clauses
• Handle commercial auto, motor carrier liability, commercial excess/umbrella, environmental/pollution liability, real estate/homeowners’ liability, and other package business liability and management and professional errors and omissions coverage forms
• Show excellent analytical, writing, and advocacy skills
• Demonstrate serious hands-on experience and efficiency in handling cases
• Be a self-starter capable of hitting the ground running

Requirements

• Illinois bar admission required
• Additional bar admissions a plus
• Substantial insurance coverage litigation experience, including all phases of litigation
• Defense litigation experience helpful

Qualifications

• Strong Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage experience
• Solid understanding of contractual indemnity provisions and competing other insurance clauses
• Excellent academic credentials

Benefits

• Competitive salary range of $190,000 - $220,000
• Actual compensation dependent on relevant experience, qualifications, and location
