Experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician- 1st Shift

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to continue to improve our safety, quality, and efficiency by performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance and providing effective troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance to all plant machinery
• Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant
• Accept and control maintenance operations and communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction
• Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility
• Maintain general housekeeping and organization of maintenance department and all equipment repair work area
• Review the operation of plant equipment and systems to evaluate need for maintenance or repair
• Maintain low percentage of maintenance downtime
• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies
• Continuously review the operation of plant equipment and systems
• Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner
• Identify opportunities for improvement

Requirements

• Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in computer using Excel and CMMS System
• Ability to successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery
• Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge
• Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection and mechanical bearing systems
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Experience operating metal working tools such as grinder, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, etc.
• Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
