About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled Fire Sprinkler/Suppression Technician to join our team. This position involves receiving service calls, diagnosing and repairing sprinkler systems, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and describe equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Contact customer representatives to determine equipment/system issues.
  • Perform service and repairs on various types of sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pumps.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Communicate effectively with district staff and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Electronically complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding and obtain customer signatures.
  • Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler/Suppression industry. 5 years, preferred.
  • NICET I or able to obtain NICET certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Able to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Overnight travel will be required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, have a positive attitude, and be able to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred

  • NICET Level II certification.
  • Journeyman License, preferred but not required.
  • OSHA-30 S12 COFS13 COFS16 COFS17 COF certifications.

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.25 - $48.35 hourly, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that warrant consideration beyond the stated range.
