Experienced Facilities Engineer
Job Description
The Spent Fuel Handling Recapitalization Project (SFHP) is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to join the Facility Engineering team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As an engineer on the Facility Engineering team, you will support multiple engineering disciplines, providing oversight during commissioning, supporting mechanical engineering tasks, conducting design reviews, and reviewing subcontractor requirement compliance.

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill
You are expected to learn the details of the facility mechanical design and provide contractor oversight through multiple phases of construction, including design, construction, system installation, commissioning, and facility turnover.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
- Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
Preferred Skills
- Experience in commissioning large commercial/industrial facilities
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Strong communicator with diverse organizations and technical disciplines, including remote working
- Experience working with standard building codes and code interpretations
- Background in reviewing specifications, drawings, other project requirements and enforcement of requirements
- Experience in scheduling, tracking, overseeing, and monitoring execution of mechanical work tasks
- Demonstrated ability to drive resolution to technical problems

Pay Range
$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually
