Overview

The Experienced Staff, Tax Services professional manages client engagements with precision and quality, blending technical expertise, client communication, and team leadership to deliver insights, strengthen relationships, and drive performance improvements.

Major Responsibilities

  • Tax return preparation and review
  • Working with clients to review, complete and edit their record keeping
  • Tax research and planning
  • Consulting on financial and tax matters
  • Understanding tax technical issues commensurate with level of experience
  • Planning and executing the day-to-day activities of tax engagements of various clients in accordance with RubinBrown Client Service Standards
  • Preparing and/or reviewing tax returns for business returns (partnership, "C" corporation, "S" corporation, Not-for-Profit) and individuals
  • Identifying and communicating tax planning ideas for clients, including tax research, computations and related documentation
  • Identifying and communicating accounting matters to other engagement team members
  • Identifying performance improvement opportunities
  • Working closely with and directly communicating with partners, managers, and other team members, in addition to client personnel
  • Supervising the tax staff assigned to the engagement (if designated as In-Charge)
  • Participating in the budget process

Preferred Experience/Background/Skills

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Accounting or related degree, CPA or other related certification
  • A minimum of two years of current and/or recent tax experience in public accounting
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in the technology environment
  • Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership ability
  • The ability to meet challenging client requirements, provide services, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strict adherence to professional ethics

Working Conditions

  • The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations
  • Travel for this position will be approximately 5% of the year
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to move throughout office
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 10-30 pounds
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, etc.
