Experienced Accountant
About the role
The Experienced Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process. This role partners closely with the team to support external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries. Working cross-functionally with finance and other departments, the Experienced Accountant supports accurate and timely financial reporting while helping improve accounting processes in compliance with GAAP and accounting policies.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities through preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Perform fluctuation analyses on balance sheet and income statement accounts and provide explanations to leadership
- Maintain the general ledger to ensure accuracy of accounting records and financial reporting
- Support internal and external audits by preparing support and responding to inquiries and requests
- Afford to process process improvements and implementation of accounting best practices to improve control environment
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies in processes and journal entries
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, track metrics/results, and resolve accounting issues
Requirements
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in the use of business applications, particularly Excel
- Experience with general ledger applications (preferably Workday)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter who will anticipate challenges and work proactively to resolve issues
- Highly accountable team player with customer service mentality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting from a U.S. Accredited University (US GAAP Focused Education)
- Preferred: MBA or Masters in Accounting
Skills
- CPA or progress toward CPA
- Experience in the financial services or asset management industry
- Public accounting experience at Big 4 or large international firm (BDO, RSM, Grant Thornton)
- Public Company/Controls experience (SOX)
- Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Snowflake, Power BI or similar reporting and analytics tools

Pay
$80,000 – $90,000 per year + annual bonus
Schedule
Minimum of 4 days weekly in the office.
