In an after-school setting, the classroom paraeducator is under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students; assist in the preparation of instructional materials; provide routine clerical support.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individuals or small groups
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
• Provide routine clerical support
• Perform duties commensurate with demonstrated ability, training, education, and experience

Requirements

• Education: High School Graduation or equivalent (required)
• Must meet one of the following:
  • 48 semester college units (provide transcripts)
  • Pass District Paraeducator Exam
  • Certificate of Proficiency for Instructional Aides (NCLB certificate)
  • College Associate’s degree or higher
• Experience: Knowledge of the general needs and behavior of children
• Experience working in an educational setting (desired)

Schedule

4.2 hours per day; 10 months per year; 193 work days.
