Paraeducator III / Expanded Day Learning

About the role

The Paraeducator III / Expanded Day Learning position at Winifred Pifer School supports instructional activities for special needs students. The primary focus is on direct student support, addressing learning and physical needs as outlined in each student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to crisis situations, intervening and de-escalating as necessary.
• Support classroom instruction and provide additional learning opportunities as directed by teachers.
• Monitor and assist students during breaks and transitions between activities.
• Implement interventions and strategies to address inappropriate behaviors.
• Collaborate with other staff members, including teachers, therapists, and parents, to ensure consistent support for students.

Requirements / Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of 48 (or more) college semester units OR certification of passing the District Paraeducator Exam OR possession of a Certificate of Proficiency examination in compliance with Education Code and No Child Left Behind Act is required.
• Experience working with children with special education needs is preferred.

Benefits

This position offers full-time employment with benefits, including a salary dependent on experience and classified salary schedule #3, range 23 ($22.69 - $30.42).

Pay

The salary for this position is dependent on experience.

Schedule

The work schedule is 8 hours per day, 10 months per year, with 193 days per year.
