Exotics Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT)

About the role

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is seeking a Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Exotics Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients
• Calculate medical dosages, administer medications, run in-house lab work
• Place tubes and catheters, monitor critical care anesthesia
• Ensure patients' comfort, update clients on their pet's progress
• Perform a variety of other tasks

Requirements

• Minimum of three years working with non-domestic animals/exotics
• Comfort mentoring other staff on exotic animal medicine
• Lifelong learner with eagerness to face new challenges and participate in teaching hospital culture
• Able to provide high standard of care in a client-centered environment
• Able to handle stressful situations efficiently and flexibly
• Minimum of two years working in the veterinary field as a technician or assistant
• Minimum of one year emergency or other specialty small animal care experience
• Current status as a Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon OR currently Licensed Veterinary Technician OR Registered Veterinary Technician elsewhere with the ability to transfer license to Oregon
• High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

• Preferred minimum of three years working with non-domestic animals/exotics
• Preferred minimum of two years working in the veterinary field as a technician or assistant
• Preferred minimum of one year emergency or other specialty small animal care experience
• Current status as a Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon OR currently Licensed Veterinary Technician OR Registered Veterinary Technician elsewhere with the ability to transfer license to Oregon
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Compensation: Certified Veterinary Technician: $28 – $36 per hour, Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $38 – $44 per hour

Pay

• Certified Veterinary Technician: $28 – $36 per hour
• Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $38 – $44 per hour
