Position Overview
The Licensed Veterinary Technician is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients, assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, educating clients, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting the daily flow of the clinic.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and obtain medical histories
- Absorb, monitor, and recover anesthesia
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia
- Perform dental cleanings and radiographs
- Collect and run laboratory samples
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed
- Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture
- Maintain accurate and detailed paperless medical records
- Ensure proper documentation for patient safety and continuity of care
- Follow NYS regulations and hospital protocols
- Absorb, monitor, and recover anesthesia
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, assistants, and client service representatives
- Help maintain efficient daily clinic flow
Qualifications & Skills
- Current New York State Veterinary Technician License required
- Strong technical and anesthesia monitoring skills
- Excellent communication skills (in-person and phone)
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Compassionate, patient-focused mindset
- Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
- Proficiency or willingness to learn Avimark and Microsoft applications (training provided onsite)
