Responsibilities

  • Review participant’s medical history for potential risks or precautions related to exercise.
  • Determine participant’s strengths and limitations and progress wellness programs accordingly.
  • Develop and schedule individualized or group exercise programs tailored to participants' physical conditions, health goals, and overall well-being to improve fitness, strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility.
  • Teach participants safe and effective exercise techniques to enhance physical movement or overall health.
  • Measure and monitor participants’ vital signs (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels) during rest and exercise.
  • Educate participants about their exercise programs and provide guidance on maintaining health.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team (PT/OT) to ensure proper care and notify them of any changes in participant status or concerns.
  • Complete documentation in PACE EMR in a timely manner according to policy/procedure.
  • Use the electronic DME order system for participant equipment management.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment (department/participant) in clean, orderly, and good working condition, including routine cleaning, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information (HIPAA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Exercise Science, Physiology, or Kinesiology.
  • Preferred: One or more years’ experience working with a frail or elderly population.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Certification of completion of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Training through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization, interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and communicate, concentrate, and document effectively.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operations manuals, procedure manuals), write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups. Ability to read and analyze professional journals, technical manuals, and regulations, and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, telephones, fax machines, adding machines/calculators, and other routine office tools.

Monday–Friday, day shift.

Pay

Pay range: $22.30 – $33.18 per hour.

This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment, as well as ongoing compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy. All employees are subject to background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse to verify eligibility after a conditional offer of employment and on an ongoing basis.
