About the role
Touchmark in the West Hills is Portland’s leading resort-style retirement community enriching the lives of residents and their families through five-star hospitality, services, and amenities. We are currently seeking a wellness-obsessed individual to join our growing team as an Exercise Specialist for our Health and Fitness Club.
Responsibilities
- Assist, monitor, and instruct residents in the safe and effective use of equipment and weight machines in order to meet their personal fitness goals and needs.
- Conduct fitness consultations and assessments to help develop individualized fitness programs ensuring resident safety and following each resident's care plan.
- Conduct club tours for potential members, residents, and guests, and explain the benefits of membership to build your client base.
- Engage in group exercise classes and yoga instruction, both chair and mat formats, tailored to individual levels of ability, skill, and personal fitness goals.
- Maintain a positive, upbeat, and energetic approach to health, wellness, teamwork, and hospitality.
Requirements
- A commitment to Touchmark’s values (hospitality, compassion, excellence, teamwork, and integrity).
- Current personal training certification through a NCCA accredited organization.
- A bachelor’s degree in an exercise science-related discipline.
- Comfortable answering phones while greeting and providing information to members.
- Excellent at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- At least five years of experience working as a Certified Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist.
- At least five years’ experience working with a mature population.
- Experience in instructing group exercise classes in the format their certification is in.
- Experience in instructing yoga, both chair & mat.
- A positive, upbeat, and energetic approach to health, wellness, teamwork, and hospitality.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and basic office equipment.
- Able to maintain patient and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members, and visitors.
Qualifications
- Group exercise experience is preferable and could potentially increase hours.
- Senior Dance/Zumba teaching experience would be beneficial.

Pay
$35 - $40 hour for Personal Training
$25 - $31 hour for Group Instructor
$17 hour for Administration
