About the role
The Chief Executive Officer provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership in support of the goals and policies established by the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA), a member-driven trade association representing the residential construction industry.
The HBA strengthens the home building industry, creates opportunities for members, advocates for sound housing and development policies, and supports the communities in which members live and work. The role encompasses advocacy, convening stakeholders, business networking, event production, workforce development, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Advise the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Officers on Association conditions and operations; attend meetings and prepare agendas, packets, minutes, and reports.
- Plan and recommend policies, programs, and initiatives that further Association objectives and execute decisions of the Board of Directors.
- Direct Association operations, approved programs, projects, and major staff activities; recruit, hire, train, motivate, and evaluate staff.
- Develop the annual budget with the Treasurer and Director of Finance; operate within established guidelines and safeguard Association funds, investments, physical assets, and property.
- Lead legislative, regulatory, and political efforts; maintain relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and public/private organizations affecting the building industry.
- Serve as liaison to the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB); represent the Association at key state and national meetings, legislative conferences, and the NAHB Association Management Conference.
- Promote member engagement; provide staff support to councils and committees; oversee member education and support leadership development, nominations, and Hall of Fame activities.
- Provide executive oversight and staff support for Association events, the Home Club campaign, and other approved initiatives.
- Execute authorized contracts and commitments, safeguard confidential Association and member information, and perform other responsibilities delegated by the Officers and Board.
